The Ukrainian counteroffensive is finally on

Thursday, June 08, 2023   No comments

The Biden administration and NATO leaders are now saying that they supplied with Ukraine with all that is necessary and that they asked for. Such statements make the outcome of this counterattack decisive, not only militarily, but, importantly, politically.

When talks about the Ukrainian counteroffensive was heating up months ago, a prediction was made that that it is unlikely to happen as a full scale attack and if it did, it will be decided by geography, planning according to the presence of natural barriers such as lakes, rivers, and reservoirs. With that thinking, and with Ukrainian stated goal of taking over Crimea, the Zaporozhye direction was the logical frontline that will be used to break through Russian defense lines.

With the destruction of the major dam (Kakhovskaya HPP), the Kherson frontline is taken out the equation.

More reasons to focus on the developments in the Zaporozhye front.

Putin makes first comments about the active frontlines: Ukraine's counterattack has begun...and its forces have failed in all their missions

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed today, Friday, that "the Ukrainian forces did not achieve their goals in any sector of the front thanks to the courage of the Russian soldiers and the correct organization of the Russian forces."

Putin told reporters, at a conference in Moscow, today, Friday, that "the Ukrainian forces have not accomplished the tasks assigned to them in all combat zones, and this is quite clear," noting that "the offensive capability of the Kiev regime's forces still exists."

Putin added, "This is achieved thanks to the courage and heroism of Russian soldiers, the correct organization and good leadership of the forces, and the high efficiency of Russian weapons," noting that "the Ukrainian forces have suffered heavy losses in recent days, exceeding the traditional numbers."

Putin said: "Over the past few days, we have inflicted heavy losses on the forces of the Ukrainian regime. It is known that, during offensive operations, the losses are about three (Ukrainians) against one (Russian), this is traditional. But in this case it exceeds The numbers are far above these traditional indicators, and I won't re-read the numbers now, but they are impressive."

Putin pointed out that "the Ukrainian attack has begun, and this is evident through the use of strategic reserves by Kiev," stressing that "the causes of the tragedy that Ukraine is experiencing today are nothing but a product of the events of previous years," and that "the responsibility is fully borne by the Kiev regime, which originally came to power." through a coup.

Putin's words come days after the battles intensified on several fronts in the Donbass region, as the Russian Ministry of Defense announced, earlier today, the destruction of Ukrainian warehouses containing ammunition, weapons, Western military equipment, and drones, with high-precision strikes with long-range naval and air weapons, which disrupted the supply of weapons. Ukrainian forces in combat zones.

During the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian forces continued to attempt to launch offensive operations in the directions of southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye, and the Russian forces repelled 4 attacks in them, and repelled two attacks launched by the Ukrainian forces in the regions of Novodanilovka and Malaya Tokmachka, in the Zaporozhye region.

The largest battle so far was concentrated south of the city of Orekhov, where Russian forces destroyed convoys of the 47th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian forces, and the total losses of the Ukrainian forces in the fighting areas reached 680 militants, 35 tanks, 11 infantry fighting vehicles, 19 armored fighting vehicles, and a number of Fixed and self-propelled guns.

The Russian forces also shot down a number of modern cruise missiles that reached Kiev, "HIMARS" missiles, and two Ukrainian fighters, and were able to destroy modern German Leopard 2 tanks and American Bradley armored vehicles.
